(This 895 page book contains a wealth of photographs. However, it shows its age with much outdated taxonomy information. Many of us still find it to be a valuable resource.)

A note about many of the T.F.H Publications: T.F.H. provides a wide variety of turtle related books for the beginning hobbiest. They usually have excellent color photos, which may be worth the price of the book for many turtle lovers. Much of the information is correct, however inaccuracies are frequent enough to suggest caution in using these books as your sole source of information.

Special Thanks to Merilyn Abbot for much helpful information in private correspondence. She and her husband Charles run Central Florida Reptile Farm, one of the best reptile farms around. They produce a wide variety of captive bred reptiles. The two turtles I purchased from them, including my Malayan boxie, arrived in excellent condition and have remained in perfect health.
